Most UPVC and composite doors are fitted with a euro cylinder lock, the oval-shaped barrel you insert your key into. The design has one significant weakness: if the cylinder protrudes beyond the door furniture (handle and escutcheon plate), the exposed section can be gripped and snapped off with a levering tool.
Once snapped, the internal mechanism is accessible, and the door can typically be opened in moments, no drilling, no noise, no damaged frame. Because the attack is so fast and quiet, it’s extremely difficult for neighbours or passers-by to notice.
