Types of Window Locks We Repair and Fit
UPVC casement window locks
UPVC casement windows typically use an espagnolette mechanism, a strip of locking points engaged by a handle. Over time, the handle can become stiff, the cam can wear, or the locking points can fail to engage with the keeps in the frame. We repair and replace UPVC casement window handles, espagnolette mechanisms, and keeps.
UPVC tilt-and-turn window locks
Tilt-and-turn windows have a more complex mechanism that allows the window to open either by tilting inward at the top or swinging open like a door. Faults in the handle, the linkage rods, or the multipoint lock strip are all common. We carry a wide range of replacement parts for leading UPVC window systems.
Sash window locks
Traditional timber sash windows present their own security considerations. Sash locks, including Brighton fasteners, sash stops, and dual screws, keep the sashes together and prevent the window from being forced. Old or painted-over sash locks often seize completely. We repair, replace, and free sash window locks and can advise on additional security measures, such as sash stops and locks.
Casement window stays and espagnolette bolts
Casement stays hold a window open at a fixed point, but can also serve as an additional security point when locked. Espagnolette bolts run the full height of a narrow casement window, providing multi-point locking similar to that of a door. We repair and replace both.
